Gearing Up For Sensory Week
SENSory play is a huge part of SENSational Minds: Early Learning Academy LLC. The children at our center engage in some sort of sensory activity every single day. We have talked about sensory processing in the past, but today we wanted to share what we had up our sleeves for next weeks fun!
For almost two weeks now, Miss Billie-Jo has been focusing on "All About Me" in the Pre School room. They have been reading books which celebrate individuality and being who you are. They have been drawing self-portraits, practicing name writing, measuring their heights, creating body outlines, etc. What a better way to finish off this unit with the five senses!
Next week we will be focusing on a new sense everyday! And we won't be leaving out the other rooms, they'll be in on the fun too! We do sensory every day, but this will be our first ever Sensory Week!
Carolann, our Occupational Therapist who works with children who have specific sensory needs daily, helped create this weeks fun!
Here is the schedule for next week:
We have been gathering up the materials we need so that we can make this as fun and safe as possible for all of the children! Here is a sneak peak of what we've included in the fun...
The Dollar Store is FULL of goodies if you know what you're looking for! You may look at this picture and wonder what the heck we'll be doing with hair gel, marbles, and gift ribbon- but you'll have to wait and see!
We can't wait to show you what is in store for sensory week!
Stay tuned!
